About this Dog
CHIVE hails from the Northern community of North Spirit Lake and came south with her siblings Basil, Dill & Sage. She’s received her first vaccines, a microchip, dewormer and been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. The litter were found all alone with no mum so her breeds and the size she’ll grow to be is just an educated guess based on what she looks like. She’s an active little lady who loves to run around and play with her siblings and chew on her teething toys. She’s very outgoing and adventurous but also very snuggly and loves to sit in your lap. CHIVE is crate trained and sleeps quietly in it at night and will nap in it during the day too. House training is still a work in progress and she will go on newspaper in the home if she isn’t taken outside quickly enough. She’s just started to go on walks and she’s a quick learner with leash walking and she’s slowly learning that she can go to the bathroom while outside too. Walking sometimes can be a bit slow as she loves to pick up sticks and chew on them along the way. She has good manners and will sit for her meals and take her treats “gentle.” CHIVE’s ideal family would be an active one that loves to go on hikes and walks in the woods. She does well in a vehicle so will always be up for a drive and especially if it leads to an adventure for her. She’ll do well in a home with other dogs as she’s fostered with several of them and they all get along. She’s also fostered with 2 kitties and is very curious about them and will sniff them but not much else. If there’s a cat in her adoptive home we recommend a slow and monitored introduction while she’s leashed. She should do well as an only pet in the home provided she’s not left alone for long periods of time. Children should be aged 6yrs and up plus be loving and gentle towards animals. She does require a fenced-in yard so she can be kept safe while she has a run around and play. Puppies are cute, playful and fun but also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We do need her adopter to be in agreement to take her for puppy/obedience training to help her to become the best girl possible. Her spay is included in her adoption fee and her potential adopter must be in agreement to have her spayed by the time she’s 6 months of age. The surgery will be at the Barrie SPCA but you can use your own vet and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it there. In order for the rescue to do so we need the spay requirements to still be followed plus a copy of the procedure invoice and a picture of her (preferably in her onsie or cone) in order to do the reimbursement. We do post the picture on our fb page along with other pets that were “fixed” in the same week. If CHIVE sounds like she’ll suit your family and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet her.

Adopt CHIVE and Receive CHIVE's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, CHIVE's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is CHIVE's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the CHIVE, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming CHIVE's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and CHIVE was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, CHIVE’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the CHIVE’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, CHIVE’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
