Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Auckland Incorporated (SPCA Auckland) has been a voice for animal welfare for over 127 years. Together with our generous supporters we continue to work hard to improve the lives of animals in the Auckland region.
Our mission is to encourage the humane treatment of all animals and to prevent cruelty being inflicted upon them. We do everything we can to ensure that all animals in the Auckland region – from Wellsford to Port Waikato – are being looked after. We want everyone in our area to know how to look after their animals and give them the love and respect they deserve.
Every year at the SPCA Auckland Animal Village in Mangere we care for between 16,000 and 18,000 animals that have been lost, abandoned, injured, or abused.
We rescue thousands of animals every year from harmful situations, attend dozens of animal emergencies, and investigate thousands of complaints about animal cruelty.
SPCA Auckland has the power to protect all animals from abuse, neglect, and abandonment, including prosecuting people under the Animal Welfare Act 1999.
SPCA Auckland also provides education programmes to teach compassion and responsible behaviour towards animals.
