Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Drogheda Animal Rescue was established in 1997 in Drogheda, County Louth, Ireland by a small group of volunteers concerned with animal welfare. Today, Drogheda Animal Rescue remains as a non-profit, voluntary organisation committed to assisting both dogs & cats in need and finding new homes for them. Currently, Drogheda Animal Rescue does not have a centre to house all of its animals, but relies heavily on foster care and costly private boarding kennels. We also assist individuals & families wishing to rehome their pets due to a variety of circumstances. All of our available animals are viewed strictly by appointment.
We also work closely with other animal rescue groups in Ireland, the U.K., and Sweden.
All of our volunteers have full-time jobs and/or families, and volunteer their time and effort in addition to a heavy work-load with work & family life.
Our funding is obtained through Department of Agriculture grants, fund raising events, and generous public donations. All funds go strictly to the care of our animals.
