Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Adoptable Pets in Utah
(report broken link)
The Parowan Animal Assistance League (P.A.A.L) was originally a committee re-formed at the request of Mayor Landes.
PAAL was founded about 20 years ago by a small group of people who got animals adopted out to good homes. Because the group was small and there was a lot of demand, members burned out quickly. At that time the shelter was not a no kill shelter.
Our first accomplishment in April 2011, was to designate the Parowan Animal Shelter as a No Kill facility, only animals that are too ill or have behaviors that are dangerous and uncorrectable can be considered for euthanasia. Due to the restrictive size of the facility at this time we are only able to accommodate dogs. Volunteers feed the animals, clean the kennels, make flyers, phone calls and do fund raising. They also take dogs to events to encourage adoption and raise awareness.
