About this Bird
Hatch Date: Unknown Kiwi, Bleu, Coco, Rita, and Calypso are a group of five shy Budgies. Two Males, and three females. They will be adopted out together. They came to the rescue from a woman who had inherited them from a relative. Unfortunately, She felt she couldn't give them the attention they deserved. Rita and Calypso are male, but the other 3 are female. No nests are present, and there has been no egg laying in the two months or so that they’ve been with their foster family. They came into their foster home quite skittish. They seemed to be very nervous when people came into the room with them. They have now become accustomed to their foster family being nearby, and reaching into the cage to clean it and care for them. All of them except Kiwi are willing to eat millet from their foster mom’s hands. Calypso is the bravest about coming near their foster family for treats, followed by Rita and Coco. The Budgies love to chew up their toys and cuttlebone. They eat a healthy diet of fresh chop and Lafeber pellets. They have plenty of free flying time and the only one who offers a challenge when it’s time to go to bed in the cage for the night is Calypso, who should be named Houdini. He used to squeeze through the bars of the cage they originally came in, The cage was not appropriate for this sized bird, so they are now in a bigger flight cage with narrower bar spacing. These five are a happy little family that offers a lot of entertainment to anyone in the room! They start their talking chattering when people are nearby, and seem very open to interaction if the right family is willing to work with them. This group is being fostered in Cherry Hill, NJ. They will require an in-person visit before adoption. We do not ship our birds. For the Love of Birds is a network of dedicated foster homes throughout NJ and Eastern PA. As our adoptable birds are living in private volunteer homes, we only allow approved adopters to make the required visits.
