About this Dog
Meet Eliza – The Catlike Terrier with a Heart Ready to HealEliza is a 5-year-old terrier mix with a story of resilience. Rescued from a hoarding situation in Bakersfield, she arrived at the shelter scared and defensive, using nips as her way of protecting herself. The shelter environment overwhelmed her, but since coming into our care, she’s slowly learning that the world isn’t so scary after all.Eliza is a unique soul—more catlike than doglike in many ways. She loves perching on high surfaces, quietly observing her surroundings like a queen overseeing her kingdom. Timid and cautious at first, she takes her time warming up to new people, but with patience and space, she begins to show her gentle and curious nature. The outside world is still big and overwhelming for Eliza, so she’s working on leash training at her own pace. She would do best in a calm, adult-only home where she can feel safe and continue to blossom. Whether in an apartment or a house, Eliza is looking for a peaceful place to call her own—a home where she can perch, observe, and, in time, truly trust.Could you be the one to give Eliza the understanding and love she deserves?
