About this Dog
Lil has been with us for a little while now and her foster mom & dad have gotten to know her pretty well. When she first arrived at her foster home she was super timid and afraid of a long of things, including the TV. From her foster mom: Lil is super sweet…we give her hugs a lot and she loves it and gives kisses in return. She is still afraid of loud noises, especially on the TV. She is terrified of guns…if foster dad gets a gun off the rack, she freaks out and comes running to me. She still barks at him when he comes home from work but her nub wiggles the whole time now. She loves her foster furbrother Charlie but he is very submissive. My dad's dog Shorty thinks he is king of the castle and when we brought her home and got out of the truck, Shorty came charging at her growling….I had her leashed but she lunged and growled and backed him down real quick. Now they are fine but he keeps out of her way. He follows a safe distance behind us when we walk. She’s not been aggressive towards him since that first day. Everything else is wonderful about her. She eats and drinks throughout the day and still checks occasionally to make sure there is still food out. If the bowls are empty she lets me know…same with going outside…she pants and paces if she needs to go out. She takes treats very gently. She is destructive on toys and she is also a countersurfer. Now I’m very careful not to leave food out. She also like la to chew up napkins and tissues if she can get one! She responds to Lil or Lily, she sits and lays down sometimes on command…she is definitely a Boxer though. She does great on car rides and does great in her crate. Sometimes she goes right in and sometimes she need a push, but she doesn’t potty in it and she doesn’t tear up her bed. Lil follows foster furbrother Charlie around a lot and would do well in a home with a submissive male dog. We think she is probably too alpha to live with another female and might not like a dominant male dog, either. She has a pretty high prey drive when outside and REALLY wants to chase rabbits, squirrels, birds, chickens, etc so we are going to say a home with no small pets (or chickens!) would be best.
