Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

NORTHERN NEVADA SHIBA RESCUE (NNSR)
Is a Nevada Non-Profit Corporation dedicated to the rescue and rehoming of the Shiba Inu. NNSR was founded by Jack Owens and Vic Rogers in 2002 and over the years we have worked with several hundred Shiba Inus and have provided surgeries, medical treatment, behavioral therapy and most importantly love and safety. Shiba Inus have come to us from all over the United States and have been placed in carefully selected homes with new families. In 2008 we opened A Doggies Dream in Reno NV to help with housing the rescued Shibas, and quite honestly, to keep Jack from bringing them home and keeping them. Our rescued Shibas have ranged in age from 8 weeks old to 15 years old and everywhere in between. Our commitment to the Shiba Inu is that once we have accepted them in Rescue they are ours for life and we do not euthanize unless there is no other option medically or behaviorally.

Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
No-kill shelters do wonderful work, but as a result, are often inundated with pet surrenders. In the unfortunate scenario that you have to find a new home for your pet, please read through the rehoming solution and articles on this page before contacting the shelter.
