Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

The RSPCA Leeds, Wakefield and District Branch provides a safe haven in which abused, neglected, and abandoned animals can be cared for, socialised and rehabilitated before they are found a new home. The Branch can provide accommodation for 15 dogs, 22 cats and 5 rabbits at any one time, along with 7 other dog apartments for those which are unvaccinated.
In 2009 entering into the branch were 148 dogs, 354 cats and 39 rabbits and during the year we re-homed 132 dogs, 341 cats and 40 rabbits all which were health-checked both in and out, vaccinated, neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. The Branch also helps local pet owners on low incomes by subsidising the cost of neutering, micro-chipping and veterinary assistance for those in receipt of qualifying benefits.
