Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

The Worthing and District Branch of Cats Protection came into being in 1986. Its main purpose is to rescue unwanted cats and kittens and find new loving homes for them. The area we cover stretches from the Arun river in the west to the Adur river in the east and north to Pulborough and Henfield. We dont have a centre where all our rescue cat are kept, instead our cats are looked after by volunteer fosterers in purpose built luxury pens in their gardens, or in their homes, kept entirely separate from their own pets. Periodically, we hold Cat Homing Shows, where we bring a number of rescued cats together in one place for the public to visit.
Before homing, all our cats will have been health checked, vaccinated, neutered and micro chipped. We do charge an adoption fee to help with some of the cost incurred, 'All cats come with 4 weeks free insurance through Petplan.' We also operate a lost and found cat reporting service and we champion the neutering of cats. In this respect, for cat owners on low incomes we are even prepared to help with the cost. We receive no grants, all our income is generated by the branch either from public donations or from the many forms of fund raising we do.
