Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Minehead & District Cats Protection was set up in May 2009 and is run by a small band of busy volunteers. Sadly, there always seems to be cats who need our help in being rescued and rehomed, neutered or reunited with their owners.
We don't have a shelter but, instead, our cats are placed with our dedicated foster carers either in specially built, outside cat pens or the more needy may be placed with indoor fosterers. Here the cats are cared for whilst they await their new homes. All of the cats in our care receive an initial vets assessment and any treatment that may be required. They all receive those all important vaccinations and are also neutered if old enough before leaving our care to go to their new homes. If they are not old enough new owners sign to say they promise to get the kitten neutered by the recommended date of neutering on the adoption form. The cats will also receive a microchip. Neutering is a vital part of our work and we offer a voucher scheme to help with the costs of neutering your pet. Please telephone the branch.
