Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

No healthy cat is ever put to sleep ... and we do all we can to save the sickly ones too! Hornchurch and District is your local branch of Cats Protection, the largest feline charity in the UK. We are one of a network of over 250 branches and cover Hornchurch, Emerson Park, Elm Park, Rainham, Upminster and Cranham postcodes RM11, RM12, RM13, RM14 and parts of RM15.
We were formed in 2001 when a group of local cat lovers felt they couldnt sit by and leave unwanted and injured cats and kittens to fend for themselves any longer. We are all unpaid volunteers, many with full time jobs, who give our time to help local cats in need. Our mission is to ensure that every cat is given the chance of a life where it will be treated with kindness and an understanding of its needs. We aim to do this by:
* finding loving homes for stray and unwanted cats and kittens;
* supporting and encourage the neutering of cats; and
* improving people's understanding of cats and their care.
