Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!
No-kill shelters do wonderful work, but as a result, are often inundated with pet surrenders. In the unfortunate scenario that you have to find a new home for your pet, please read through the rehoming solution and articles on this page before contacting the shelter.

I can't say enough great things about this no-kill, caring rescue. I did research first before I surrendered my beloved pets (long story) and this name kept coming up when I asked around. Wow, what a caring group of volunteers who really love their animals. It is a small rescue and they require a surrender fee, which is used to take care of the animals, but you can trust your animal will be given a good "home" with them until they get adopted. If they don't, New Life keeps them and cares for them. A wonderful vet named Karla runs this rescue. One of my surrenders ended up having Cushings. Although she has not yet found a home and maybe never will, she is safe and comfy and getting loved on by the staff.
I would both surrender a beloved pet that you sadly can not keep and adopt from this wonderful, reputable rescue.
