Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!
No-kill shelters do wonderful work, but as a result, are often inundated with pet surrenders. In the unfortunate scenario that you have to find a new home for your pet, please read through the rehoming solution and articles on this page before contacting the shelter.
IMPORTANT: This form is only for public comments about the shelter. To contact Animal Care Society, please go directly to their website (link on previous page), this form will not send your comment to them.
Obviously yyou have some rules for adoption which I can't find on your site.
My wife and I are 74 and 73 years old and retired, We have a dachshund-pekingese mix which is getting quite old and may not last much longer. She is about 12 years old.
We are considering adoption of another small dog to replacing her when she goes, and perhaps to keep her company until she does.
Do you offer adoptions? We would be interested in another small dog when the time comes, but I was unable to find any information about adoption on your site.
Thanks for your help.

When it comes to adoption this place is bogus. If I can live on my own, support myself, pay for bills ect. I shouldn't have to be 21 to adopt a dog. I'm very well managed to take care if myself and a dog but these people would not even let me look at them. Said it would be pointless because they are not going to let me adopt one. Completely pathetic you apparently don't want your animals adopted out to good homes that badly.
