Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!
No-kill shelters do wonderful work, but as a result, are often inundated with pet surrenders. In the unfortunate scenario that you have to find a new home for your pet, please read through the rehoming solution and articles on this page before contacting the shelter.

Over the past 7 years I have given a home to 5 dogs dropped off by my house which is located on an end-of-lane road. They are very much loved and well cared for.
All vaccinations, plus heartworm and tick medications monthly.
Now I need to find new homes for them, so that I may move to Colorado to help take care of my 22 granddaughter who was shot by her boyfriend in May, severing her spinal cord. She will be paralyzed for the remainder of her life. She will be going home from the hospital the last of August and her parents would like be to help out until she can adjust to her new body.
My dogs are being cared for by my daughter and son-in-law but, due to a promotion in the company, will be moving.
Please help find my dogs new homes.
