Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!
No-kill shelters do wonderful work, but as a result, are often inundated with pet surrenders. In the unfortunate scenario that you have to find a new home for your pet, please read through the rehoming solution and articles on this page before contacting the shelter.

We are in desperate need to rehome some cats. My father passed away and his 5 cats were unable to be to be surrendered to no kill shelters in the spring because they were full. My sister took them but she has too many cats and the place where she lives said she has to get rid of them. 5 cats that were my fathers and 9 cats of my sisters. We are at a loss what to do.
Hi, all,
I have 7 cats that were brought into my home by a very irresponsible roommate and abandoned with me. 2 adult males, 1 adult female and her four kittens (7 weeks old). I already had three cats in my tiny one bedroom apartment and cannot keep all of these cats. I am getting complaints and could lose my job due to the fact my work uniform is covered in cat hair and customers are complaining. I was reprimanded about it today. I wish so much that I could keep them all as they are very sweet cats, but i cannot afford to lose my job over the smell. HELP!! I just want them to go to a place where they won't be euthanized. This is breaking my heart.. but I cannot lose my job. I have no family to help me and have a heart condition, so if i lose this job, that's it for me. I desparately need help! Please email me [email protected] this is a desparate situation.
