About this Dog

Bruno is an 80 lb. 7 year old male Weimaraner. I rescued him as a puppy in March 2014 after his previous owners surrendered him to a high kill shelter because he had a growth on his right eye which they didnt want to deal with. He was extremely emaciated, knew no commands, wasnt housebroken, and (in my opinion) had a hand raised to him more than once. Sudden movements would cause him to immediately drop to the ground in fear. In a very short time span, and with the help of those close to me, we were able to change the meaning of lunges, quick movements and putting a fist up during play time. Now, if someone were to make a quick move in his direction with a hand up he will play bow and start bouncing all over in anticipation of some craziness/rough play. His current best friend and roommate for the last 5 years is a 90 lb german shepherd named Roxy. Bruno and Roxy will gladly stay outside and eat faces/beat each other up/wrestle/chase squirrels/play tag until one or both of them fall over in complete exhaustion. He has numerous other dog friends to play with since all of our friends and neighbors also have dogs. He loves people, hiking, running, swimming, car rides, and most anything that involves being outdoors. When indoors he loves to snuggle and will gladly do so for as long as you're willing to sit or lie down. There's no such thing as too close during snuggle time. His nickname is goofball and it's well earned - he's a big goofball. Hes smart, picks up new commands quickly, and will do just about anything for food. He currently has a fenced in yard but will do well without, he comes back when called. He is not great on a leash but i never really walked him on a leash due to the fact that theres an enormous park not far from my house where we frequently go where he can walk/run the trails/play fetch with sticks/swim in the creek. He is crate trained and is crated during the day when my wife and i go to work. Now for the not so good: I dearly love this dog. I saved his life. He's a member of my family and I don't want to get rid of him. Unfortunately, he's not great with small children. My wife and I now have 2 children, aged 4 and 18 months. Our 4 year old adores this dog and the 18 month old is learning to like him as well. We are vigilant with the baby around all dogs since the baby doesn't know any better. Our 4 year old has been taught how to act around all dogs, not just her own, and she is mindful to not climb on them/get in their faces/ pull hair/etc. Sadly, Bruno just seems to not be ok with any small children being close to him. Especially not while he's relaxing/sitting on the couch/otherwise inactive. He is fine with older kids and fine with all sizes of people when outdoors. When the kids get close to him - he growls. Our 4 year old understands that growling means the dog is saying no, so you stop doing what you're doing immediately. Recently he has taken to snapping at them as well. Most recently he did actually make contact (nipped) our 4 year old with no outward signs beforehand (nipped her on the heel as she was walking by). Eg. No growling or other body language to indicate it was coming. About a week later it happened again(she was putting food remnants in the trash, he went after it, she tried to block him from eating the food in the trash and he nipped her in the forearm). No blood drawn, no skin broken. Therefore, for the safety of my children and for as much as it kills me to do so - I have to re-home him. Additionally, on the subject of not so good traits. When given the opportunity he will raid the trash and counter surf. He' learned to do this when people arent around.

How will Bruno receive the Dogecoin?

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. If you adopted the Bruno, thank you for providing a home and a loving family! Please begin the process of claiming Bruno's Dogecoin here.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Bruno was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Bruno’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.

What happens to unclaimed funds?

This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
