About this Dog

Duke will be 2 years old in October. He came with little papers on his background and health history. He lived with a family that included children, but we don't know the ages of the children. He was given to a rescue due to his parents getting a divorce. He lived with a staff member for a week, and he did well with another female dog at the home. We took in Duke and got him up to date on his vaccines, started on heartworm medication as well as flea and tick medication, and started putting weight on him. He began around 60 pounds and is slowly putting on weight. He has a hard time keeping it on because he burns off so much of it with his high energy. He will run around the backyard all day if you let him. He’s a snuggle bug and just craves your attention. He really is affectionate and what some would say is a Velcro dog. Duke takes bath extremely easy and well, just ask him to jump in the tub and he will. He loves car rides and sticking his face out the window. If you need an active partner, Duke is the one to take out on a hike or play in an enclosed place. He’s a bit of a whiner, but it’s his personality and can be cute! He’s not a quiet one if someone’s coming to the door, so you’ll always know he’s on guard duty. There’s a lot of potential with Duke to do well and to do well with other dogs. In our experience, Duke has not gotten along with other dogs; he has attacked our dog many times, fence fights our neighbors' dogs, lunges at dogs on walks, and he has not done well on play doggy dates. He only gets along with our dog when we aren't home. Duke in the beginning has bolted and ran away from the home a few times. The ideal home for Duke would have a secured fence and no other animals. Duke has a lot of energy and would love a place with more room to run around. He gets super anxious when left alone, so it would be best if he can be home with someone who works from home, can take him to work, check on him during their beaks, go to doggy daycare, or if there’s a pet sitter that could just drop by and say hi. He does not do well in the crate or kennel; he has escaped from them and destroyed 3 brand new crates. He has not been allowed to free roam the house; he is not housebroken, does destructive chewing and attempts to escape due to his anxiety, and likes to unplug things from outlets and chew on the outlets. We are unsure if its a compulsive disorder or something else, but Duke paces around in circles often throughout the day. Clear triggers are when our other dog is getting any attention. He needs formal training on basic commands and work on his impulse control, and time to build his confidence. He pees submissively when scared, and does get frightened by sudden loud noises.

Adopt Duke and Receive Dogecoin

Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Duke's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised. Dogecoin is digital currency that can be exchanged for cash, traded, or held as an investment (see the "What is Dogecoin" section below).

How will Duke receive the Dogecoin?

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. If you adopted the Duke, thank you for providing a home and a loving family! Please begin the process of claiming Duke's Dogecoin here.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Duke was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Duke’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.

What happens to unclaimed funds?

We want the Duke’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Duke’s balance will remain in our general Dogecoin fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
