About this Cat

Rascal is about 12 years old. I adopted him when he was 9 years old from a lady who had had him since he was a kitten. She had to rehome him due to marriage and children. I think the very young children might have treated him a bit roughly because at first he shrunk back whenever you reached to pet him. He is friendly and greets everyone. He is fine meeting you but still shrinks back a little when you reach out to him. With me he is loving and cannot stop rubbing against me and does like to be where I am. He does have behavior issues. He gets in moods where he is very aggressive and bites. I have to just leave him alone until he changes moods. He also sometimes poops outside his litter box. At first, I thought it was because he was mad at me, but he has done it other times. I am not sure why. He always pees in the box. I have taken him to the vet but the vet finds no problems. I have had him now for 3 years, but I can no longer care for him. I am moving to a retirement community and cannot take him with me. I love him, but I think someone with more energy and patience than I have would be a much better pet parent. I am sure they could help him overcome his behavior issues and help him be a better cat. He is a large cat and weighs 17 lbs. I have taken him to the vet on a regular basis and he has had no health problems. He is current on all his shots, etc. He may be senior in years, but he is still active and likes to play. Rascal's front paws are declawed, so he is an indoor cat only. I do not want him euthanized and that is what a shelter would do. I tried one no-kill shelter and they had their quota of "senior" cats and I think all of them will find a reason not to take him. I hope someone will want to adopt my kitty, Rascal, because I cannot keep him and I am running out of options.

Adopt Rascal and Receive Dogecoin

Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Rascal's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised. Dogecoin is digital currency that can be exchanged for cash, traded, or held as an investment (see the "What is Dogecoin" section below).

How will Rascal receive the Dogecoin?

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. If you adopted the Rascal, thank you for providing a home and a loving family! Please begin the process of claiming Rascal's Dogecoin here.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Rascal was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Rascal’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.

What happens to unclaimed funds?

We want the Rascal’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Rascal’s balance will remain in our general Dogecoin fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
