About this Dog

My husband is an Army reservist and was on a mission at Fort Knox KY last week. While there he and his friend were out driving on a country road when they almost hit a dog. When they got out to check on her they noticed she had a collar and tag. They managed to lure her to them with beef jerky and could tell she was scared and hungry. They got her in the truck and called the number on the collar. The gentleman lived 12 miles away so they drove to his location and when he saw the dog he said she wasn’t his dog and did not know how his collar got on her. He was obviously lying and it became apparent that that he had dumped the dog. She is a young dog and appears she may have been used for breeding since he could tell she had birthed a litter. My husband tried to find a shelter for her but being the weekend nothing was open or at least he couldn’t find any no-kill facilities. He took her back to his hotel and fed and bathed her. He kept her for the night and was able to find a vet that would board her for the week. My husband decided he would bring her back to MD and we would figure out what to do then. While being boarded we also had them give her all her shots and we had her spayed. It was the right thing to do. He hoped we may be able to keep her but we have 2 large dogs ourselves as well as a toddler. She is a very sweet dog, has shown absolutely no aggression towards my son or the dogs. And is slowly coming out of her shell. It is obvious she had a rough life and was not treated very well. She has only barked one time since she’s been with us, even when my dogs were going crazy when someone came to the door she did not make a sound! The vet said she is approximately 2 years old, she appears to be Catahoula dog, which for the area he found her the breed makes sense. She may have been used for hunting. Unfortunately she has had no training. She is able to walk on a leash but does not have house manners. Although she is very smart and had already learned the sit command. Which she did not know when she got to us last week.

Adopt Baby and Receive Dogecoin

Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Baby's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised. Dogecoin is digital currency that can be exchanged for cash, traded, or held as an investment (see the "What is Dogecoin" section below).

How will Baby receive the Dogecoin?

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. If you adopted the Baby, thank you for providing a home and a loving family! Please begin the process of claiming Baby's Dogecoin here.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Baby was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Baby’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.

What happens to unclaimed funds?

We want the Baby’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Baby’s balance will remain in our general Dogecoin fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
