About this Cat
My name is Ric and I need to surrender my orange domestic long haired cat of 2 years Oakley. He was adopted from the Michigan Humane society December of 2016 and he came to me already declawed but fully vaccinated. He had his most recent annual rabies shot earlier this year. I've always been an animal person. I grew up with cats, dogs, horses, rabbits, ducks, and do not take this decision to surrender lightly. However I feel he has a great personality only if someone is able to give him the right level of attention. The main reason I need to surrender him is that we're having issues with urinating outside the litter box and this has been going on for 4-5 months now. He will pee on the bed, floor, couches, and any clothing that stays out (clean or dirty). I took him to be evaluated for a urinalysis at the Cat Carousel clinic in Novi and that came back fine so it was ruled a behavioral issue. It was suggested that I try a calming diffuser to help with the anxiety. So I bought that. He still meows a lot and has to follow me into every room I go in when I walk around the house. You can't shut a door behind you if he wants to follow you into a room he will meow and literally knock on the door incessantly until someone let's him join. He even waits outside the bathroom. His behavior is attention seeking and I've tried playing with him with different toys and tried catnip to get his curiosity peaked but it doesn't last for long. He will barely chase a laser pointer even. He mostly just looks at it as it goes around. He does have a cat condo that's 72 inches. He enjoys being high up to lay/relax. He isn't really a lap cat on his own, but he isn't aversive to being picked up. He actually like being held very much. He also sleeps in my bed. He gets along fine with other cats and dogs. He's lived with two small dogs so far and got along with them fine. He take the normal amount of time to get warmed up to them at first, but as long as they're good with him, he's good with them. I need to surrender because I don't not have the time or the financial resources to keep experimenting with different toys or treatments to try to keep him engaged or the anxiety at bay. I think he would benefit from a home that has another cat and someone that is around often. He's a big handsome guy so I think he would be adopted quickly. Please let me know if he will be accepted at the shelter or I will be forced to have to take him back to the humane society.

For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.

This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Oakley was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Oakley’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family.
