About this Dog

My heart is truly broken in this situation and I'm looking for the best option for this sweet boy.  I have a family member who had rescued a stray that looked to be dropped off near her and was very emaciated going between 3 houses for food. She has taken great care of him. When he first came to her, her husband said they could not keep him and he was released to a shelter near her.  He was adopted there and immediately abused. He had been returned to the shelter in need of stitches and treatment for some of what he endured. My family member was contacted following the incident and his return and she immediately went to get him. She absolutely adores him but her husband had claimed that he was displaying behavioral issues and gave her an ultimatum. Please note that in the time my husband and I have had him, we have seen nothing of concern, no food aggression, no aggression period. Although there were claims he had food aggression, we have not seen any evidence of this with us, nor our other dogs. We wanted to keep him for a period of time to evaluate this ourselves and make sure we were able to give the full story of his personality and any issues he may have. He's great with cats and children and other dogs. He likes to put his nose in and on everything so sometimes the cats are not fans of it but he has never hurt them. He can be timid and shows anxiety when we play with our other dogs, I believe he thinks it is not safe. This may stem from the abuse he endured in the past. In the time he has been with us, he has calmed tremendously with his timidness towards men. He is very respectful and responsive with my husband. His favorite thing to do is to sleep and be loved on! He is fulfilled with these two things. I'm doing what I can to find a place where he may be able to get a second chance with a family who will love and care for him.  In the time we have had him we are teaching him basic commands, sit, come, stay, quiet. He enjoys being challenged and loves positive reinforcement.     His name is Smokey Jo. He is fully vetted, neutered, and micro chipped. He has had updates on all vaccinations and is wonderful with children. He is curious of cats but not aggressive. The vet estimates him to be 4-5 years old and is full-blood blue tick hound. In my home I have 3 other dogs and he's fine with them also. My youngest dog is just not fond of him and we need to watch her closely. He is the most lovely boy! So gentle and just wants to be loved.  My heart is so broken for him. I'm hoping to find hope for him. Someone to give him the second chance at a happy and full life.  He has a PetSafe Invisible fence, collar and a year's supply of batteries that come with him as well as a brand new dog house, although he does not like to use it when he spends any time outside. (He is mainly inside when we are not away from the home for a long period of time) Any more information you need, I'd be happy to provide! My husband and I are doing the best we can to care for him right now but unfortunately we are not fully equipped for an additional dog at this time.

How will Smokey Jo receive the Dogecoin?

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. If you adopted the Smokey Jo, thank you for providing a home and a loving family! Please begin the process of claiming Smokey Jo's Dogecoin here.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Smokey Jo was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Smokey Jo’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.

What happens to unclaimed funds?

We want the Smokey Jo’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Smokey Jo’s balance will remain in our general Dogecoin fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
