About this Dog
Please read ALL below where you will find answers about the pet, our adoption fees and how to do our adoption application! Gilbert came to us as a stray with a horribly imbedded collar. He went to a Vet as had to undergo surgery to remove the collar and suture the huge wounds around his neck. He hung out at the Vet clinic during a large part of his healing and they all fell in love with him. This approx 2-year old hunka love is 62 lbs and while he is high energy, he is a lush! While the neck has healed wonderfully, sadly he was also positive for heartworms but he has completed his heartworm treatment and is now ready to be adopted. Gilbert is a giant lap dog, sits for treats, lives for a belly rub, loves to be brushed and loved on. He loves rope toys, chasing a ball (but not bringing it back) and is even happy getting a bath! He is an active boy that deserves a better remainder of his life than whatever his previous life was. He is great with female dogs (no male dog partners please) and cats! ADOPTION FEES Dogs & Puppies.....$100.00 . This Adoption fee includes: mandatory spay/neuter which will be done before you can take your dog or puppy home with you; basic canine immunizations (DHPP-CPV & Bordatella Intranasal); de-wormings; one-year rabies vaccination if old enough; heartworm test if over five months old; microchip from 24-Pet Watch; certificate for free health examination at your participating veterinarian; and a goodie bag chocked full of information, toys, and more. The first step to do an adoption is to do our Adoption Application here: https://www.elmorehumane.org/adoption-application-online-form2.html IMPORTANT – we respond to your emailed applications and queries via email back to you. Please make sure you have either added our email ([email protected]) to your contact list or that you routinely check your SPAM folder for our response just to be safe. If we do not receive a timely response we simply move on to another applicant. Yes, there are sometimes exceptions to our normal fee for older dogs or special cases. Some of our pets have also been lovingly sponsored by caring people and we will let the approved adopter know about that at the point of adoption. Visit our Website at: http://www.elmorehumane.org The staff would also like to remind you that for faster response to inquiries about adoptable animals to have the animals ID#, name & description. This way your questions will be answered in a timely manner. All pet adoption websites & our shelter management software require that we choose a primary and/or secondary breed for our dogs. While our staff is quite breed knowledgeable, in many cases we are truly making our best guesses as to their breed(s) based on many factors but cannot promise that what we have said is accurate. So taking into account your own parameters for things such as size, coat care, activity level, etc please come and get to know our dog(s) as individuals to see if their personalities and yours are a forever match.
