About this Dog

Monk is a six year old 70-75 lb. Aussie-shepherd mix. His previous owner passed before her time, so we need a good home for Monk. He is a very lovable, but somewhat anxious dog with abandonment issues. By that I mean that he tends to travel wherever the owner travels around the house because he doesn’t want to get left behind. Because of this, we generally limit his alone time to 4-6 hours if we have to be away. Monk also is easily startled and barks at whatever startles him. That could be people coming to the home and knocking on the door to someone in another part of the home getting up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. The current solution to his barking at people coming to the house is to open the door or take him out to meet them before they reach the door. Even if we aren’t that quick and a new person makes it to the door, Monk will become their new best friend once he meets them. Monk has not shown any aggression to people (as long as you don’t count barking), but he will pull on his leash to get to other dogs when walking. Also, I suspect that he may have been beaten as a pup because he runs from sticks or anything that looks like one. Monk has a great previous owner who took very good care of him. He is up to date on all his vaccinations, and he even has a micro-chip tracker. We’ve never had to use the tracker because he will always come when called, unless of course he is chasing something. Again, he doesn’t want to be left behind. I think the ideal home would be a single person, couple or small family where Monk could sleep in the same room with either the kids or parents. Also, a retired person, someone who works from home, or a couple would be better because Monk wouldn’t be left alone for 8-9 hours a day. He previous owner passed before her time and she wanted to help with Monk’s expenses If you are looking for a very lovable, loyal, and affectionate pet, Monk could be ideal for you.

Adopt Monk and Receive Dogecoin

Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Monk's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised. Dogecoin is digital currency that can be exchanged for cash, traded, or held as an investment (see the "What is Dogecoin" section below).

How will Monk receive the Dogecoin?

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. If you adopted the Monk, thank you for providing a home and a loving family! Please begin the process of claiming Monk's Dogecoin here.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Monk was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Monk’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.

What happens to unclaimed funds?

We want the Monk’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Monk’s balance will remain in our general Dogecoin fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
