About this Dog
PLEASE ENSURE ALL INQUIRIES HAVE VERY SPECIFIC DETAILS THAT SHOW YOU READ THIS BIO "Talking 'bout, oh Georgia, take me to your southlands I sometimes feel my life is rolling on Oh Georgia, lead me through your heartlands I need to see them one more time before I'm gone" -- Elton John Meet Georgia! Georgia is a ~12 year old, 8 lb Chihuahua Mix who joins us from @San Jose Animal Care Center She is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, free of parasites and has had senior labwork. She will have a dental cleaning at the beginning of June (but she does not have many teeth left, hence her tongue sticking out) She is on two very cheap medications for arthritis (around $6/month total per GoodRx) and will come with a several month supply and prescriptions to take to the pharmacy of your choice with refills good for one year at your cost. (Many of our senior dogs are on arthritis meds because just like people over the age of 40 often have aches and pains, so do dogs. "Not treating" is not the same as "not needing" for all of the people who constantly ask us why our dogs are on arthritis meds when many other shelter/rescue dogs are not.) Her foster mom says this about her "It’s hard not to smile when you look at Georgia. Isn’t she the cutest little thing with her permanent tongue out to the side? She is shy at first, but once she knows you, she loves you! Her favorite thing is to sit on a little bed by the window and watch the birds. I haven’t heard a peep out of her since she’s been here, and she has been perfect with house training—but this includes using piddle pads, so if you’re not into piddle pads, expect to have to do a little re-training. She can be a little spicy with the other dogs and the cat. It’s not that she can’t live with other animals, and she doesn’t chase the cat, but she wants her space. If they get too close, she’ll snap at them with all two of her teeth (or how ever many teeth she has left). She could live with other dogs/cats or she’d probably be very happy to be the one and only princess in the house. We have not tested her with kids, but have not seen her snap at any humans, so gentle children would be best for her as she is tiny, and a little cautious when being picked up -- all children are different so we do not have a set age requirement, but our best guesstimate are 'tea party' rather than 'superhero' children over the age of 8 She is ok on a leash but a harness is best for her. She is fine in her kennel and loves to sleep next to the bed buried in blankets. She takes her pills happily inside a little lunch meat and is a very easy little pup to have around" She is fostered in the SF Bay Area of CA and for the first 30 days she is available (through 6/09/2021), she will be adoptable to people who are willing to come to us to adopt and who are willing to take care of any needed dental care at their own vet at their own expense. After her scheduled dental at our vet on 6/9/21, she will be adoptable to people willing to come to us to adopt for 30 days (through 7/9/21). After that, if she is still available, we will consider transporting her to major US airports for flexible adopters willing to work with the volunteer flight attendants who escort them in-cabin on STANDBY flights in their spare time. She qualifies for our Seniors for Seniors Program where pets over age 5 are available to people over age 55 for a $5 adoption fee (application required and regular adoption criteria apply). Also, ask us about our seniors for seniors program, where we adopt animals 5 years or older to qualified homes with a $5 donation as an adoption fee. All animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, treated for parasites and given any additional treatments (dental work, bloodwork etc) as recommended by our vet. Adoptions to veterans of the US Armed Services are ALWAYS free to thank you for your service.
