About this Dog
Age: 4 months (as of 3/23/21) Weight: 17 - 26 lbs (as of 2/22/21) Location: RI This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. The George litter are happy go-lucky pups that can't wait to find their forever families! This adorable litter is 2 females (Molly and Morrison) and 4 males (Diesel, Charlie, Ward, and Max) - we are guessing they are a hound, American bulldog, and great dane mix, so they will likely grow-up to be large dogs. This litter seems to have typical cute puppy behaviors and tendencies, such as wanting to cuddle, teeth on chew toys, or run around, chase, and wrestle with their other litter mates. Although they seem to be mostly quiet you may hear them bark while playing. Their foster home has two cats who they are interested and playful with but since they don't come into much direct contact with them we can't promise they'll get along with a cohabiting cat. Their foster family also has two teenagers and a grade-school aged child who they are friendly and playful with. When meeting new adults they are playful but may be shy initially. Most of the pups in this litter are being kenneled at a southern foster home, however Charlie and DIesel are being fostered at other homes inside/more integrated with their foster families. Expect about moderate activity for this litter; they will need daily walkies and/or lots of off leash yard play time, but are happy to chill too. Given their anticipated energy level a fenced yard is not required but if not provided one they will need plenty of opportunities to play and stretch their legs in other ways. Being just puppies they will have so much to learn! They'll need house training, crate training and will need to learn to walk on a leash. We strongly recommend that all our dogs attend obedience classes because you get to learn commands together, and it offers an opportunity for confidence building and socialization for the dog. If you're ready to make that awesome commitment to make Diesel (or one of his litter mates) a part of your family, fill out an application today! Medical Note: A littermate of this dog tested positive and was treated for demodectic mange while in the SOS program. This dog has also been preventatively treated and currently shows no symptoms of demodectic mange. Please note that demodex can have a hereditary component and/or flare up in any dog in times of stress (e.g., transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc.). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a personal or family history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months after adoption or until 18 months of age. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange: http://www.vcahospitals.com/main/pet-health-information/article/animal-health/mange-demodectic-in-dogs/741. Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor. Adoption Fee: $585 To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website: www.sosarl.org/aa/ **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
