About this Dog
Pickles is a seven-month-old bully puppy that we believe is either a Cane Corso or Mastiff mix. She is already 75lbs and will be over 90lbs when fully grown. Pickles has a very sweet nature and is a social puppy who meets new people well. She enjoys pup companionship and likes to play, as most puppies do. She was born into an irresponsible home where she and her six litter-mates lived in a makeshift pen. One of the larger puppies escaped, and one nearly drowned in the neighbor's pool when no one was watching. Animal Control was called, and the owner desperately reached out to rescue for help. When the puppies were rescued, Pickles was taken in by a local SC family who considered keeping her. The family had never owned a large dog before and didn't understand what managing a 75lb puppy would entail. They realize she's not the right fit for them, so they have released her to the rescue to find a great home. Pickles has been in her SC foster home for about a week and has integrated quickly into their pack. Her foster family includes a mom, a dad, a large (85lb) Staffordshire Terrier mix, and a kitty. Their adult daughter also has a young Boxer mix who comes to visit that Pickles immediately found to be a perfect playmate. This home also has an outdoor cat who comes in at times during the day, and Pickles has been respectful with him. Pickles is a moderate energy pup overall. Even though she's a big girl, she's still a puppy who is learning the rules of the home. She is curious, eager to please, and stays close to her foster parents in the house and outside in the yard. She has a great temperament and enjoys meeting new people. They've taken her out to the local pub and restaurant a few times, and she enjoys the social scene. At first, she was a little timid with their large dog, but now they play well together. They both enjoy roughhouse play, and Pickles is best paired with a larger pup companion who likes to mix it up. Pickles shares well with others and has no issues around the food dish or treats. Her foster dad can reach in and take her food dish with no trouble, and she has learned to sit and wait for the OK command before eating (she's getting better at this every day). Good Pickles! When she is verbally reprimanded, her default response is to lay down and not move. Pickles is crate trained and about 95% potty trained. She's only had two 'accidents' in the home since arriving, and that's to be expected with a new home and routine change. She is OK on the leash, but still needs more practice. Pickles is a social young pup who is going to make a wonderful family pet. Large breed experience required. Pickles has been spayed and fully vetted and will be coming to N. VA on 5/30 to find her new home. Worthy Dog Rescue adopts to families the DC metro and surrounding area.
