About this Dog
Age: 2-3 Years (as of 5/2/2020) Weight: 60-65 lbs (as of 5/2/2020) Location: RI This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Say hello to Snickers! This affectionate, playful boy appears to be a Boxer/Plott Hound mix. This handsome breed is known to be smart, confident, good-natured companions. Snickers likes playing with other dogs and really does not like cats. He does seem to be a bit protective with his food when other dogs are around. We don’t know how he is with kids and given his high energy don't recommend for a family with young children. He does love playing with toys and think he would greatly benefit from a fenced yard where he can run and play to burn off some energy. Snickers' foster mom says he does get excited when meeting new people and sometimes will want to jump on them, and we happy to report he is making some nice improvements in this area. He is also working really hard on house training and leash training and so far, so good but does need a little more time. He is almost fully crate trained where he sleeps quietly in his crate at night. He is good in the crate during the day for a few hours but sometimes will pee. We think Snickers would do best as the only dog in a relatively calm household or as an additional dog with a well-balanced dog to show him the ropes for life in a house and be a buddy for him to play with. He would greatly benefit from training classes and it would be a lot of fun for you! He is a large dog who needs a lot of exercise and is always ready for action, but does like to chill after activity. Snickers is a sweet and happy boy who just wants a loving forever home. Can you make his dream come true? Fill out an application today and let him know that you'd love to have him join your family! Medical Note: This dog has been treated for heartworm disease with melarsomine injections. Once treatment is completed and the dog tests negative for microfilaria, the dog will be cleared to resume normal activity and able to be adopted. Untreated heartworm disease can cause lasting damage to the heart, lungs and arteries, and can affect the dog’s health and quality of life even after the parasites are gone, possibly presenting as medical complications and/or new conditions in the future. This dog showed no symptoms of heartworm disease before or during treatment.
