About this Dog
Bear is a gem! He is so sweet and definitely a stage 5 clinger to his people. I would consider him a medium energy approximate 4 year old (which is such a good age - not a puppy but still has plenty of energy). He loves sniffing all the smells on car rides and going on walks. He has two specific toys that are his very favorites and likes for them to be thrown to him in the house. In the yard he will chase bugs and birds, and displays some anxiety/inability to relax. For this reason he’d be best with someone who will actively play with him and take him on walks rather than someone who will expect him to get exercise in a backyard. To be very clear, this boy will not even go out for a quick pee unless you are with him. His very favorite thing is to be where you are! I have not cat tested him, but he has seen many ducks and geese on the other side of a low fence we have that backs up to a lake. He chased them when they were in our yard, though he did not injure them. Therefore, he should not go to a home with cats or other small animals. Similarly, Bear would do best in a home with only adults or older children. While he gets super excited when he sees children and is obsessed with my almost-3 year old, he isn’t used to them and gets anxious when little kids cry or scream. He also has some herding tendencies and can be mouthy if a child runs, so older kids who can be calm would be best. On walks he is interested in other dogs but doesn’t pull towards them or bark at them (I have been walking him on a prong as he is strong and has no training yet). He was returned from his first adopter because he and their dominant resident female dog didn’t get along, but he got along with the dogs at his first foster so I would say he’s probably just dog-selective and needs to learn proper canine social cues. Bear is not used to being an inside pet, and has no training beyond being housebroken and crate trained. He will need someone invested in getting a trainer for him, as he is strong and needs to learn boundaries. This is not a boy who would do well with someone gone for long hours or who is going to relegate him to sleeping in a different room (he loves to sleep in his person’s bed but will accept sleeping in a crate if he has to). He is extremely affectionate, and just wants to give kisses and hugs and gets lots of cuddles. This guy is soooo handsome and sweet, and should be about 75 pounds once he fills out a bit more. Originally, Bear was surrendered by his owner after they were no longer able to keep him.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Bear 1357 was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Bear 1357’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
