About this Dog
Onyx is a sweet loving Pitbull that is all black and a mosaic of white on his chest and belly. He is about a year old, and is up to date on all vaccinations as of January, 2021. He is between 50-60 pounds (a BIG improvement from when we first got him) and is about to have his 3rd and final dose of hookworm medicine. Onyx is very smart, and very affectionate with his owner, but does come with a past warning label. We rescued him from a friend, and he spent the first 5 months of his life sitting in a cage for 18-20 hours a day in the dark and away from other animals. This has caused some anxiety and trauma to loud noises and abandonment issues. He becomes very protective of his food / toys, and can snap if he feels threatened that he will lose either. He was extremely underweight when we first got him, and we believe his defense from food was due to not receiving any in his previous home. He has also showed signs of predator prey chase drive, and does NOT do well with cats. He does chase and try to harm small animals, so a home with cats or small dogs is not a fit for him. He does well with my other pitbull, and they have created a huge bond, but due to us having cats as well, he is a better fit for a new home. Onyx is not neutered yet. (due to a long wait as a result from the pandemic) I would love for him to go to the best home who can better fit his needs, and give him all of the attention he deserves. It breaks my heart to let him go, but it is also what is best for him, as well as my family. He will make the perfect companion to someone who is willing and able to work with his few behavioral issues.

Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Onyx's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised. Dogecoin is digital currency that can be exchanged for cash, traded, or held as an investment (see the "What is Dogecoin" section below).

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Onyx was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Onyx’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.

In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Onyx’s balance will remain in our general Dogecoin fund.
