About this Dog

Bear is a gorgeous, sweet 5 year old mix. He is a Hurricane Harvey rescue that made his way to MN. He clearly had a family prior to us as he was already well trained. He is about 60lbs and very healthy. Bear is a free spirit who will run at any given chance (he knows most of my neighbors) but will lay down for anyone to get a belly rub, which is how he meets all my neighbors. He is fantastic with other dogs and doesn't mind a cat. He loves to go after rodents, deer, bunnies, snakes, really anything you let him. I have received mice, snakes, a possum once (turns out "playing possum" is a real thing), you will never have to worry about mice in the house. He kills and walks away, so no gore either. I love my Bear, and his sister Delilah does does, and so does his human sister and brother, but he is not so keen on my son (8 month old). He grumbles at him for even being in the same room as him sometimes. He has always done the right thing and grumbled and left the situation if my son gets too close but we are just beginning the stage of crawling and grabbing and I fear that Bear is not going to do well. He is so young, I do not want him to have to live the next four years with feeling like he can't come near me or in the room because of the baby. I adopted him before I got pregnant and had no idea this would be an issue as he is so sweet. I believe in my heart, he is scared of my son, but scared or not, it is not a good situation for either of them. I do not really believe he would bite my son, but I cannot take that chance. He is great with my daughter who is 10 years old as you can see in his pictures. It breaks my heart to be rehoming him but I hope to find him a good family with older kids or bachelor that has no possibility of babies in the mix. He loves men, he follows them around like a shadow. Loves long walks on the beach...just kidding, well he would actually. He loves to play in the snow and with his giant indestructible ball. Bear is house broken, kennel trained, leaves the other dogs food alone, and only steals off the counter sometimes :) He is neutered and chipped and has all his checkups and shots. He had worms when I adopted him 2 1/2 years ago but has had a clean bill of health since. He did have surgery due to an obstruction that I believe he had prior to me getting him. He has one ear that must have been injured as it only stands up when he really tried and just makes him that much cuter. He was adopted previously to me but they tied him up and left him outside day and night. He gets anxiety from being chained up and left alone. I have tried everything, well almost everything, to keep him in my yard, two types of fences and filling holes he digs to get out of the fence. He would do well with someone who has the ability to walk him multiple times a day or with lots of land to run in. He is a great walker.

Adopt Bear and Receive Dogecoin

Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Bear's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised. Dogecoin is digital currency that can be exchanged for cash, traded, or held as an investment (see the "What is Dogecoin" section below).

How will Bear receive the Dogecoin?

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. If you adopted the Bear, thank you for providing a home and a loving family! Please begin the process of claiming Bear's Dogecoin here.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Bear was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Bear’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.

What happens to unclaimed funds?

We want the Bear’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Bear’s balance will remain in our general Dogecoin fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
