About this Dog

Gordo is 11 years old. His weight is approximately 20lbs or less. He has no medical issues except itchy skin and hot spots, most likely due to allergies, according to his last vet. He cannot tolerate the cold weather or being cold, likewise, he also cannot tolerate being in the sun for too long or it being too warm inside. Ideal home would be with someone who has a lot of time to give and who is home most of the time. Gordo does not like to be left alone. He loves being around people but has a problem of barking too much. My daughter, who is Gordo’s owner, did not have a lot of time to train him when he was a pup due to working two jobs, so he could use some disciplinary training with barking, and at times, tinkling around the house when no one is at home for a long time. Best scenario would be a one pet home and someone who has patience and time. There is one difficult issue with Gordo: he is known to bite when overstimulated. He likes to dominate at times, and then two seconds later, he’ll act like a puppy. He is not a typical lap dog; he wants to lay up against you but does not like to be constantly petted. It gives him anxiety. He does not try to nip or bite as much as when he was little. Age has mellowed him down some. Gordo’s original owner abused him and his siblings. This man would squeeze the pups very hard in to their hips to try to make them aggressive. Gordo was the biggest pup in the litter and was abused the most. They were also left in cages around the clock except when taken out to hurt them. Because of Gordo’s past history of abuse, we probably babied him too much, instead of disciplining him when he was aggressive. Gordo is much loved by many people in our family but my daughter’s life has recently changed because she’s had her first baby at 40 years old. She is not comfortable with Gordo around her newborn because he gets very jealous of anyone around my daughter and she does not want to take the chance of him possibly trying to nip at the baby. As Gordo’s ‘grandmother’ I wish I could keep him because I Love him dearly, but I’m disabled and recently moved in with my son, who does not like the smell of a dog in his home. Please help Gordo Ba bear. He needs someone who will not lose their patience with his unpredictable personality. Two vets have suggested in the past that Gordo would benefit from being on anti anxiety meds, and I wholeheartedly agree. My daughter is not comfortable with giving medications to pets, but Gordo’s anxiety has not allowed him to have the best possible life. He needs a place to go and a new home as soon as possible. It crushes my heart to see him go, but it just has to be, unfortunately. Please consider re-petting Gordo Ba bear. He deserves a chance to have a quiet, and very loving, forever home. Thank You For Your Time
