About this Dog

Hello wonderful humans I never thought I would send one of these. I’m Ambia. I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis about 7 years ago. My symptoms have been manageable up until recently. My MS has now progressed and I have weakness in my legs and arms and must now walk with a cane and am officially disabled. In October I had to say goodbye to my 18 year old chihuahua, Jalepeno. She was my world. In May, shortly before my MS progression, I adopted Lizzie Borden. I was ready for another pitty and I when found her at the county shelter, I had to help. She’s about 2 years old and was brought in with a litter of puppies. She was separated from them as she was so emaciated, she had nothing to give them. She was only about 47lbs after 3 weeks in county. Shes the sweetest. She’s shy and timid but loves love when she warms up to you. One morning on one of our first walks, she darted after a bunny and took me to the ground (after being airborne for a moment). I chalked it up to it being early and I wasn’t awake yet. A few days later while walking with her, leaned over to get the leash from under her leg and my legs gave out and I fell pretty hard leaving her to run. I am lucky she didn’t get too far and I could coax her back before running to the busy street in front of us. I can no longer run. What I’m saying is if I can’t even take her on a basic walk, I won’t be able to give her the life I planned. She was supposed to come to work with me and go on adventures in Arizona. We have sold our house to downsize to a first floor apartment with no stairs (they are my mortal enemy now). Lizzie has to have a new place to live by August 8th when we move or she’ll have to go back to county. I’ve reached out to friends and family. I own a salon and posted on social media and sent an email to over 1600 subscribers asking for help but no one can. She’s sweet, smart, good with dogs, good with cats after a warm up period, trainable (ask her to sit pretty), healthy (70lbs), crate trained.I have a 7 year old kid and Lizzie doesn’t really have an interest. Also, my kid is a cat person so he doesn’t really engage with her. No issues with men. Her only issue is that she seems to be more of a one or 2 human dog. She is attached to me so will get protective but I’m sure that’s just from her timidness. My husband has started walking her and now she’s warmed up to him. Unfortunately, Lizzie was supposed to be my dog that was with me mostly and husband already has a dog that does long distance running and hiking with him and Lizzie isn’t built for that so she would be left behind. Please tell me you can help. Please let me know if you can take Liz. She deserves an awesome family that doesn’t mind bruises from her wagging iron tail and wants a snuggle buddy. Thank you for taking the time…

How will Lizzie Borden receive the contribution?

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Lizzie Borden, thank you for providing a home and a loving family! Please begin the process of claiming Lizzie Borden's contribution here.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Lizzie Borden was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Lizzie Borden’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.

What happens to unclaimed funds?

We want the Lizzie Borden’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Lizzie Borden’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
