Hello from SC to fellow animal lovers!
I am so excited to see a site devoted to promoting No-Kill. It is a situation that has no easy solution, but groups like this can help lead the way to a No-Kill nation. I have always had a huge heart for animals. I am a registered nurse, but sometimes I think I would like to work with animals more so than people. I currently have a stray dog that has been hanging around for 6 days now. I have contacted some local no kill shelters and rescue organizations, but I am upset that they have not responded to my calls/emails. I'm sure they don't have a lot of room for new dogs at this time, but the courtesy of a response would be appreciated. I am simply unable to keep the pup because my dog i have had for 4 years does not like this dog at all (and besides that, my fiance won't let me keep it--he's afraid it will unintentionally hurt our dog or his cat). If anyone reading this is interested in taking him or knows someone who would, please let me know. I refuse to take him to the shelter. He is an American pit terrier mixed with boxer we think. Approx 6 to 9 mos old per my best guess. Very sweet, friendly, loving and affectionate with no aggressive tendencies noticed. I am told that my local shelters do not even try to adopt out his breed, they just automatically put them down. And from what i've read, the way they do it is not humane whatsoever. I am desperate to find this guy a home. I will even pay to take him to the vet and to have him neutered. I tried to attach a picture but it says the file is too large. If anyone can help me find him a home, please let me know!!! You can reply to this and/or email me @ moshields14@windstream.net. THANKS!!

Hi Moshields and welcome to the group. Good luck with the stray - hopefully someone can help out. I saw your note about the file being too large and wanted to let you know that I fixed it so that you can now upload attachments up to 10MB in size. Give it another try and hopefully it will work this time!

try a boxer or pit rescue, just keep calling, there are several there, I used to live in SC and i know they ae there, good luck. You can check north carolina also. DO NOT take him to a regular shelter in SC, they kill most dogs as soon as the owner walks out. I know this because when my daughter an I took food and treats and stuff up to the one in York county as soon as the owner left they put the dog down.

I just wanted to give an update. I was able to find the dog mentioned previously a home to a great young couple with 2 children.
