Great resource! Question about listings that are not no-kill

    Hi there!

I'm so glad to see this resource! However, at least one of the shelters listed for my area is definitely not no kill. Is there a way to re-verify some of these organizations? As a volunteer and... general animal welfare enthusiast... I am sometimes frustrated by people claiming certain shelters are "no kill" (they want to give that illusion or position themselves as such) when they are not, so I really don't want this kind of information to propagate if it doesn't have to. I feel these shelters should really own up to what they do.

Anyway, thanks for a great resource!

Welcome to the community and thanks for the good question. The listing of an organization in the directory is largely based on research conducted by volunteers about the organization, but we also rely on people like you to let us know if there is an erroneous listing. As shelter directors change, new policies are enacted, and without the help of the public, it would be even more difficult to ensure the accuracy of the directory. If you could reply to this post or send us a private message with the name(s) of the organization(s) and the state in which they are located, we will research further and make any necessary adjustments to the directory.
    Thank you!

Good to know that you guys take the appropriate measures to ensure quality! Seems like the public help is key, too, so we appreciate you letting us help
