Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!
No-kill shelters do wonderful work, but as a result, are often inundated with pet surrenders. In the unfortunate scenario that you have to find a new home for your pet, please read through the rehoming solution and articles on this page before contacting the shelter.

Bonnie is the Director and owner. She puts her heart and soul into the work it takes to run a successful program such is seen at MEOW. She is loved by all, from the shelter, the community and all the other rescues of which i am one.

MEOW is a fantastic Rescue organization. They help the community cats and surrendered cats with adoptions from their no-kill kitty only shelter in Kirkland WA. They are a fun group of cat loving people who run a very good rescue and support rescuers and other shelters. They believe in spaying and neutering and vaccinating all cats in their care prior to adoption which is an absolute necessity to helping to end the homelessness problem in the Puget Sound Area. All in all, they really are top notch~! Give them a call, volunteer for them or adopt your next kitty from their shelter you will be very happy you did so.
