Please see the multiple news stories about the raid that took place on August 1, 2013 where 240 animals were found living in hideous conditions under the care of Animal Guardians of America. Here's one: http://www.dallasnews.com/news/community-news/denton/headlines/20130801-deputies-seize-200-dogs-from-private-denton-county-shelter.ece As an animal welfare volunteer and advocate, I have personally helped care for these dogs while they await the chance to be evaluated and adopted, and I can tell you that this organization not only needs to have its non-profit status revoked, the person running it should be jailed and never allowed to own an animal again. Unfortunately, none of that will happen, so the best I can do is try to advise others against support her in any way.

I rescued a young female cat that came with 5 kittens! They are ready for a forever home, they just began eating food and are using the litter box. Mommy looks like a small Siamese and there are 2 black and 3 gray kittens. Very cute! Please help! Thanks, Misty

I I felt live out by lake lavon in the country with the big backyard fenced in. I'm looking for a couple of kittens to raise they are free to be house cats or come and go as they want they want. I would take mama cat and Oliver kittens if you want me to. I live in the town of Nevada with my son I am disabled but move around a lot get outside a lot. I'm not sure how this works so my number is 469-338-8428. My name is Wesley Addington I own my own house house. So I will be here on this property always.

On 8/19 my Friends dog named Pearl got out at Alma and legacy by the garden gate apartments she is a small terrier mix black and white her face is half black half white she does have a collar and she is chipped if you see her please let us know there is a reward for her return

We have searched our house several times this morning when one of our cats "Queenie" didn't come out for her treats (which she loves). This is an older picture of her. She is much thinner and can't hear or see well. She is strictly an indoor cat so of course we are so worried. She does not have a chip or a collar. She is very old too, in her mid teens. I am missing my white, medium-haired kitty named Tiny. She answers to her name and the last time I saw her, she was missing her "breakaway" collar. She has gray patches on her head and has a long, gray tail. I live at 6635 Rossi drive around custer/Legacy in Plano. After reading about the 2013 raid and finding 260 animals being horribly treated. WHY is this organization still listed.? Is there no accountability for advertising as a 'shelter' when you have a horrid reputation... Disgusting.

I am seeking a new home for my lovely Calico named Minnow. I rescued her when she was 4 months old and she is 2.5 years old now. I have too many cats and need to find her a forever home, preferably someone who only wants one animal. She will thrive Best if she is the only animal in the houselhold. Seeking Shelter, foster care or a Permanent Home for a young Beautiful Tortoise Female under 1 yr found living under our house a couple months ago, was partially feral but she's alot better now she's been inside a month, has first shots, been bathed, de wormed, etc. I think she may have gotten pregnant however BEFORE I brought her inside. A girl brought a 2 toned gray small male cat to my home; his lighter gray markings looks like designs you might see in some hair styles... 1 almost looks like the sign of a Christian fish on his side. My name is Kathy. My husband and I desperately need to find a home for Cleo, a four year old cat that my husband is highly allergic to. We live in the North Dallas area. Our grandchild developed asthma and an allergic reaction to cats. Our daughter asked me to locate a home for Cleo. Since having the cat at our house around my husband that is allergic to cats, we have made two trips to the emergency room with the doctor telling me I have to make a choice between the cat or my husband. Unfortunately, we have no choice but to find a new home for her. Cleo is 4 years old. Her birthday is June 22. She is fixed and her shots are up-to-date. She is a really sweet and loving cat. hello my name is bell. I have a friend that is trying to save dogs here in Denver City Tx.She started a go me fund but funds ran out. There are 2 dogs in pound now that will be put to sleep or not adopted out. Many have faced same story.Can you or any other no kill shelters possible help with this issue??Due to oilfield going down people are literally just throwing dogs out in the fields or anywhere out in the country. just a week ago she saved a momma and 9 -2 week old pups left to fend for themselves.by the grace of God a shelter in colorado took them in. 2. High-Volume, Low-Cost Spay/Neuter

Low cost, high volume spay/neuter will quickly lead to fewer animals entering the shelter system, allowing more resources to be allocated toward saving lives.

3. Rescue Groups

An adoption or transfer to a rescue group frees up scarce cage and kennel space, reduces expenses for feeding, cleaning, killing, and improves a community's rate of lifesaving. In an environment of millions of dogs and cats killed in shelters annually, rare is the circumstance in which a rescue group should be denied an animal.

4. Foster Care

Volunteer foster care is crucial to No Kill. Without it, saving lives is compromised. It is a low cost, and often no cost, way of increasing a shelter's capacity, improving public relations, increasing a shelter's public image, rehabilitating sick and injured or behaviorally challenged animals, and saving lives.

5. Comprehensive Adoption Programs

Adoptions are vital to an agency's lifesaving mission. The quantity and quality of shelter adoptions is in shelter management's hands, making lifesaving a direct function of shelter policies and practice. In fact, studies show people get their animals from shelters only 20% of the time. If shelters better promoted their animals and had adoption programs responsive to the needs of the community, including public access hours for working people, offsite adoptions, adoption incentives, and effective marketing, they could increase the number of homes available and replace killing with adoptions. Contrary to conventional wisdom, shelters can adopt their way out of killing.

6. Pet Retention

While some of the reasons animals are surrendered to shelters are unavoidable, others can be prevented-but only if shelters are willing to work with people to help them solve their problems. Saving animals requires communities to develop innovative strategies for keeping people and their companion animals together. And the more a community sees its shelters as a place to turn for advice and assistance, the easier this job will be.

7. Medical and Behavior Programs

In order to meet its commitment to a lifesaving guarantee for all savable animals, shelters need to keep animals happy and healthy and keep animals moving through the system. To do this, shelters must put in place comprehensive vaccination, handling, cleaning, socialization, and care policies before animals get sick and rehabilitative efforts for those who come in sick, injured, unweaned, or traumatized.

8. Public Relations/Community Involvement

Increasing adoptions, maximizing donations, recruiting volunteers and partnering with community agencies comes down to one thing: increasing the shelter's exposure. And that means consistent marketing and public relations. Public relations and marketing are the foundation of all a shelter's activities and their success. To do all these things well, the shelter must be in the public eye.

9. Volunteers

Volunteers are a dedicated "army of compassion" and the backbone of a successful No Kill effort. There is never enough staff, never enough dollars to hire more staff, and always more needs than paid human resources. That is where volunteers come in and make the difference between success and failure and, for the animals, life and death.

10. Proactive Redemptions

One of the most overlooked areas for reducing killing in animal control shelters are lost animal reclaims. Sadly, besides having pet owners fill out a lost pet report, very little effort is made in this area of shelter operations. This is unfortunate because doing so-primarily shifting from passive to a more proactive approach-has proven to have a significant impact on lifesaving and allow shelters to return a large percentage of lost animals to their families.

11. A Compassionate Director

The final element of the No Kill equation is the most important of all, without which all other elements are thwarted-a hard working, compassionate animal control or shelter director not content to regurgitate tired cliches or hide behind the myth of "too many animals, not enough homes." Unfortunately, this one is also oftentimes the hardest one to demand and find.
