The Beatrice Humane Society conception began in January 1999, when the Beatrice Police Deopartment began looking for individuals who were interested in volunteering their time and interests in developing a new animal shelter. After several meetings of the “Animal Shelter Committee,” it was the desire of this particular group of individuals that a more prominent, permanent organization be established to be and to be able to accomplish not only the task of managing and maintaining an animal shelter, but to provide the community with education and encouragement that we could and would succeed in this endeavor.
