Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!
No-kill shelters do wonderful work, but as a result, are often inundated with pet surrenders. In the unfortunate scenario that you have to find a new home for your pet, please read through the rehoming solution and articles on this page before contacting the shelter.

I was thrilled to share my home with my Kelsey. We were not sure how old he was, but was told he was not a kitten but a little older. At first he was a bit on the naughty side because he was a bitter and scratcher. I expected him to grow out of this, but he didn't.He to this day still does both. He does it for attention and when he wants to play. I would never trade him for anything. This is just his personality. I like to think that if I hadn't adopted him he might end up living alone because of his querks. I accept the way he is, bitter and scatcher. I hope to have a long life with my sweetheart.--Just because a cat has a little bad habit, they still deserve a loving home.
