Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!
No-kill shelters do wonderful work, but as a result, are often inundated with pet surrenders. In the unfortunate scenario that you have to find a new home for your pet, please read through the rehoming solution and articles on this page before contacting the shelter.

My wife and I adopted a black lab retriever mix back May 28th of 2016 and we could not ask for a better puppy then him. He is from Porta Rico. We made it easy on him and my wife and I both learned his commands in Spanish so he could feel comfortable with us. We have had no problems with him at all. When we got him he was 45lbs but he has no problem getting his food😈. We love him with all our heart and couldn't have done it without the wonderful people at the Lincoln county animal shelter. We thank them for our little boy. We did end up changing his name form Vector to Brady. My wife and couldn't thank them enough!!!!😇
