Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!
No-kill shelters do wonderful work, but as a result, are often inundated with pet surrenders. In the unfortunate scenario that you have to find a new home for your pet, please read through the rehoming solution and articles on this page before contacting the shelter.

my son is trying to rehome a German Sheppard that he has he doesn't think given him to just anyone would be good idea due to he doesn't know or been around any other people besides us my son doesn't want to take him somewhere they would put him down but he is really hyper and needs a place to run and we don't have a fenced in yard we live off a main street so he has to stay in a kennel in the backyard he is almost 2 years old or is 2 im not really sure but we need to find him another home
So you mean to tell me you knowingly let your child get an animal that you and him both knew were not gonna be taken care of the way the breed is intended to be taken care of just to leave it caged up outside with little to no socialization just to turn around and care about him now that it’s to late? Extremely irresponsible. Do better.
