Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!
No-kill shelters do wonderful work, but as a result, are often inundated with pet surrenders. In the unfortunate scenario that you have to find a new home for your pet, please read through the rehoming solution and articles on this page before contacting the shelter.

Hi. I am trying to find a no-kill shelter or other option for some cats and kittens my stepdad was feeding. He recently passed away and his sister-n-law and sister have been trying to help but not long-term. He lived in Spring Hill and I live in the panhandle. I was down this weekend for the day to go through some of his personal things and the kittens are grey. I don’t know how many, I think 6. There were 3 other cats. His sister-n-law said there were 9 total. Looking for help. No one wants to take them to traditional shelter but before long we will have to make some hard choices about their care. I guess reply here or TEXT me at 850.322.5127. Please text instead of calling first because I work. Make mention of being interested in Spring Hill cats. Thank you.
