Although our mission is primarily to help the animals of New Fairfield and Sherman, we also want to help as many animals as possible, especially if we have available space. We make every effort to contact other shelters in Connecticut, especially high-kill shelters, to offer our assistance taking animals that are on "Death Row". We also work with several rescue groups in Tennessee, where the euthanasia rate is extremely high. The dogs that come from Tennessee are transported via a network of volunteer drivers. All pets adopted from NFSAW have received thorough veterinary care and, age/size permitting, are already altered.
