Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!
No-kill shelters do wonderful work, but as a result, are often inundated with pet surrenders. In the unfortunate scenario that you have to find a new home for your pet, please read through the rehoming solution and articles on this page before contacting the shelter.

Foster Care is only as good as the organization you adopt from. This organization does not test kittens they rescue for parasites. They have also had kittens with diarrhea in the store. Protect your family by adopting from a group that has the set up and means to test the kittens for parasites etc. BEFORE adoption. You will not hear from them once you realize your newly adopted kitty is very ill.

This group does not check for parasites. Kittens do not always show signs of giardia. Read the fine print when adopting and see what is not there. It is not safe for your family or other pets if they have parasites. I should know...hundreds of dollars later still trying to save the kitty and protect my family. Find a reputable group!

We are in desperate need to rehome some cats. My father passed away and his 5 cats were unable to be to be surrendered to no kill shelters in the spring because they were full. My sister took them but she has too many cats and the place where she lives said she has to get rid of them. 5 cats that were my fathers and 9 cats of my sisters. We are at a loss what to do. My sister doesn't even have a car to surrender them somewhere.
